San Francisco Police Union Endorses Hochman for L.A. County District Attorney, Says of Gascon ‘It’s Taken Years to Begin to Turn the Tide on his Mess’

Gascon’s abysmal record lingers in San Francisco four years after he was run out of town

LOS ANGELES / August 5, 2024 — The San Francisco Police Officers Assn. today announced that it is endorsing Nathan Hochman for District Attorney of Los Angeles County, stating in a strongly worded endorsement letter that San Francisco is still recovering from George Gascon’s horrible management while he was the D.A. there from 2011-2019.

“We lived through Gascon’s tenure as District Attorney in San Francisco, where he left us with skyrocketing crime and the nation’s largest open air drug market. It’s taken years to begin to turn the tide on his mess. We urge you to reclaim your community’s safety by voting for Nathan Hochman for L.A. County District Attorney,” said Tracy McCray, President of the San Francisco Police Officers Assn.

Nathan Hochman, the former federal prosecutor and Assistant U.S. Attorney General who is running to unseat D.A. George Gascon and restore public safety in L.A. County, said he was grateful for the support of the San Francisco police union, “which understands first-hand the failure of George Gascon’s policies.”

McCray said: “San Francisco Police Officers support Nathan Hochman for L.A. County District Attorney because he’s committed to prosecuting criminals for their crimes, being an advocate for crime victims, and ending the practice of repeatedly releasing seasoned criminals to be free to victimize our communities again.”

Word of the San Francisco endorsement comes just days after the release of campaign disclosure statements that showed Hochman had an overwhelming lead against Gascon in fundraising. Hochman had $1.1 million cash on hand as of June 30, while Gascon had just $46,000.
