DDA Speak Out – Jason Lustig – No Gun & Drug Enhancements

Jason Lustig is a Deputy D.A. in the Major Narcotics Division for Los Angeles County who wants Nathan Hochman to replace our current failed LA County District Attorney George Gascon. He is not alone. The Association of Deputy District Attorneys for Los Angeles, a union representing line prosecutors, said 97.9 percent of its members had voted to back an effort to oust Gascon from office. The DA’s office is short over 200 prosecutors, there is a backlog of over 10,000 cases, the morale is at an all-time low and George Gascon’s failed social experiment policies have been challenged as unethical and illegal.

Jason states that if criminals are caught transporting drugs in huge kilo quantities that “Gascon has their backs” and will ensure that the offenders “will be on probation and back on the street in no time” – even if they are armed with deadly firearms. DDA Lustig reveals, “Because Gascon’s policies forbid prosecutors from charging the drug weight and gun enhancements intended for the most serious offenders.” Gascon is a criminal’s best friend.

Incredibly and dangerously, Gascon refuses to prosecute the most violent criminals and gang members using gun, drug weight and gang “enhancements” for sentencing. These sentencing enhancements allowed prosecutors for decades to add years onto a prison sentence if the crime was committed by a violent gang member, or a criminal with a gun or was trafficking large quantities of deadly drugs. This made gang recruiting harder, disincentivized criminals from using a gun, and helped keep violent predators and drug traffickers off the streets of our community longer. LA County was safer and less of our children were persuaded to join gangs or use guns.

DDA Lustig knows the importance of electing Nathan Hochman, who has 34 years of experience as BOTH a prosecutor and a defense attorney, as our next LA County District Attorney. Jason states what we all think, “Enough is enough. GASCON MUST GO!”
