National Latino Peace Officers Association-Advocacy Endorses Nathan Hochman for Los Angeles County District Attorney

LOS ANGELES / October 1, 2024 – Citing his experience, and commitment to keeping the community safe based on the facts, the law and not politics, the National Latino Peace Officers Association-Advocacy (NLPOA-A), the largest Latino police association in the United States announced today that they are endorsing Nathan Hochman for Los Angeles County District Attorney.

The NLPOA, with a membership of several thousand, including chiefs and officers from municipal and federal law enforcement agencies, is dedicated to supporting sworn peace officers, their families and their communities. To that end, they believe that current District Attorney George Gascón has favored leniency over accountability, creating a social experiment that the community can no longer afford.

“We firmly believe that diversity is crucial, justice must remain blind, and a candidate’s commitment to community engagement is more important than their heritage, race, or culture. Selecting Nathan Hochman as District Attorney will strengthen the ties between law enforcement and the Latino community,” said Lorenzo J. Uribe, spokesperson for the NLPOA-A’s California State Charter. “We need a leader who prioritizes accountability and justice, rather than excessive leniency which endangers the community and law enforcement personnel.”

“I take great pride in receiving the endorsement of the National Latino Peace Officers Association,” said Hochman. “My conversation with members of the NLPOA reinforced my belief that, no matter the cultural, economic or national background of LA County residents, every community needs a District Attorney who cares more about ensuring that justice is served, and that our communities are safe and thriving than political agendas and theories.”

The NLPOA said they’re confident that Hochman’s dedication to justice and community engagement will bring about a positive change, ensuring a safer and more just Los Angeles County for all its residents adding that selecting Nathan Hochman as District Attorney will help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the Latino community, fostering a stronger, more united front in the pursuit of justice.

Nathan Hochman has a proven record of accomplishment of upholding the law with integrity and fairness. His commitment to justice and accountability aligns with the core values of the NLPOA and has shown a deep understanding of the challenges faced by law enforcement and the communities they serve. His approach to criminal justice reform focuses on balancing the need for public safety with the importance of rehabilitation and second chances.

Hochman’s dedication to community engagement is clear through his numerous initiatives aimed at building trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. He has consistently advocated for policies that promote transparency, accountability, and collaboration. The NLPOA believes that under Hochman’s leadership, the relationship between law enforcement and the Latino community will be strengthened, leading to a safer and more cohesive society and urged all members of the community to support Nathan Hochman in his bid for Los Angeles County District Attorney.
