DDA Speak Out – Brian Schirn – Vote for Nathan Hochman

Los Angeles County Deputy D.A., Brian Schirn, who runs the Narcotics Division and is a 30-year D.A’s office veteran, wants Nathan Hochman to replace our current failed D.A. George Gascon for good reason. He is not alone. The Assoc. of Deputy District Attorney’s for LA, said 97.9 percent of its members had voted to back an effort to oust Gascon from office.

Brian is bravely speaking out against his boss, alleging bias against the Jewish community; “Every day I walk into the Hall of Justice knowing that justice doesn’t apply to you if you are a Jewish employee of George Gascon.” There are over 20 lawsuits filed against Gascon by his current and former Deputy D.A.’s and employees. Brain states, “Jewish employees have filed about 10 lawsuits against Gascon for being retaliated against. Gascon has repeatedly tried to sabotage Jewish prosecutors with outstanding careers.”

A growing number of Deputy D.A.’s have concerns about office antisemitism, especially after violent clashes protesters outside Adas Torah synagogue were condemned by President Biden, Gov. Newsom and Mayor Bass, but with notable silence from Gascon. Brian reveals, “I hate going to work… where I feel like my boss will treat me differently simply because I’m Jewish. Deputy DA Amy Pentz asked to be included in Gascon’s equity group that includes members of every ethnic minority in the office. At the first meeting, Amy said, “I’m here because of the anti-Semitic. She was told not to return.” The sad irony that a Jewish Deputy DA is asked to leave a Gascon “Equity Action Team” because she wanted to discuss antisemitism in their office is simply outrageous.

Regarding LA County antisemitism, protestors’ violence and hate crimes, Nathan Hochman stated, “When elected our next LA County DA, I will be the champion of the Jewish community and all other communities against those who want to intimidate them, against those who want to tear those communities down, against those who want to harm those communities.”
